Valencia’s film festivals showcase short movies and emerging talent
The 38th Festival de Cine de l’Alfàs del Pi will run from 3 to 12 July, featuring 21 short films chosen from more than a thousand submissions. Mayor Vicente Arques said the festival "demonstrates prestige and consolidation within the national cinema landscape" and highlighted its cultural, tourist and economic impact on the municipality. The competition awards the Faro de Plata, which also serves as a pre‑selection route for the Goya Awards, and includes a special animation category with ten selected works.
From 19 to 27 June, Valencia hosts the 41st Festival Cinema Jove, a platform dedicated to new filmmakers and short‑film discovery. The edition presents a diverse official competition of feature films from the United States, Europe and Asia, alongside a retrospective of Greta Gerwig’s career. Organisers emphasize the festival’s role in spotting emerging talent and fostering dialogue between creators and audiences across the Valencian and international film communities.
