Valencia's San Juan holiday features extended shop hours and massive fireworks show

On June 24, the regional holiday of San Juan in Valencia saw most major shopping centres operate on a special schedule from 11:00 to 21:00. Facilities such as Aqua, El Saler, Arena, Nuevo Centro and El Corte Inglés remained open, while supermarkets displayed a mixed pattern: Carrefour and many Carrefour Express stores stayed open, Aldi operated with adjusted hours, Mercadona, Consum, Lidl and Dia were largely closed, and Chárter kept limited service.

The same day the city concluded its San Juan celebrations with a Saturday night "Macromascletà Universal" fireworks display. Five local fallas commissions coordinated the event, which used 300 kg of Turís pyrotechnic material and was set off at 21:00 after a series of "Techno Flamenco" concerts that ran from 17:00 until the early hours of Sunday.
