Valentina Amandola dies after fatal A10 motorway accident
A 22-year-old woman, Valentina Amandola, has died following a severe car accident on the A10 motorway in Italy. The incident occurred around 6:45 AM on Wednesday, August 26, in the stretch between the Imperia Est and San Bartolomeo al Mare exits, specifically within the Diano Calderina tunnel.
Amandola was driving toward Genoa after spending the evening in the Imperia area when she lost control of her vehicle for reasons still under investigation. The car collided with a heavy goods vehicle and subsequently struck the tunnel's side protections. Emergency responders and firefighters had to extricate her from the wreckage.
Despite being rushed to the Santa Corona Hospital in Pietra Ligure, she succumbed to her injuries. Authorities are investigating potential causes, including sudden illness or falling asleep at the wheel. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 29, at the Cathedral of San Michele Arcangelo in Albenga.
