Valentino announces 83 job cuts at Valdagno facility

The fashion brand Valentino has announced a reduction of 83 positions out of 109 roles within its logistics and warehouse service at the Valdagno plant. This move has drawn criticism from the Cgil union, which warns that the cuts signal a broader decline in the employment prospects and social stability of the Valle dell’Agno region.

The union noted that the Valdagno site, which employs over 300 workers, will see its logistics and warehouse activities reduced to a minimum. Cgil has requested an urgent meeting with the Valentino group and expressed readiness to bring the dispute to the regional crisis unit. The union argues that the contracting company remains responsible for the organizational decisions made regarding its outsourced services.

Beyond the direct job losses, the Cgil highlighted a trend of diminishing services in peripheral areas of Vicenza, including the closure of bank branches, reduced postal services, and cuts to essential social and healthcare facilities, which they claim weakens both local citizens and businesses.
