Valentín Aguirre sets record pole at Turismo Carretera Rafaela weekend
The seventh round of the Turismo Carretera (TC) and TC Pista series took place at the Autódromo Ciudad de Rafaela on June 20‑21. Saturday featured practice sessions beginning at 09:30, followed by qualifying for both divisions. Sunday hosted the race program, culminating with the TC Pista final (20 laps) and the TC final (25 laps).
In qualifying, Valentín Aguirre (Chevrolet Camaro) recorded a lap of 1 m 25.673 seconds, securing pole position and establishing a new lap record for the circuit. He edged out Agustín Canapino (Chevrolet Camaro) by 0.154 s and Jonatan Castellano (Dodge Challenger) by 0.255 s, earning his fifth TC pole and the 17th for the Chevrolet‑styled “golden bow” brand. The previous circuit record of Christian Ledesma (2024) was surpassed by 0.436 s. A complaint from Maquin Parts Racing alleged that Canapino’s team manipulated the cones on the chicanes, but the claim was not upheld.
The event marks the first TC weekend in Rafaela with a full‑generation car fleet since the series was absent from the calendar in 2025, and it continues the long‑standing heritage of Turismo Carretera at the venue dating back to 1941.
