Valentín Gauthier's medical exam delays Universidad de Chile signing

Uruguayan defender Valentín Gauthier underwent standard medical examinations after arriving in Santiago from Mexico. The tests identified a right‑ankle bone edema, which club doctors said was not invalidating but led Universidad de Chile to pause his registration. President of the club, Cecilia Pérez, warned that a player is only considered part of Universidad de Chile once officially presented to the press and that internal protocols are being followed before a final decision.

The medical staff compared the finding to the chronic condition of Charles Aránguiz, describing Gauthier's issue as “insignificant” in comparison. The signing remains on hold pending further review by the club’s management.
