Valeria Caso, Director of Neurology at the Saronno Hospital, has been appointed to leadership roles within the World Stroke Organization (WSO). The WSO Executive Committee approved her appointment on September 1.

Caso will serve as President-elect from 2026 to 2028 and as President from 2028 to 2030. Her primary objective is to increase global equity regarding access to stroke prevention and treatment, specifically targeting the disparities between different countries and continents.

Her mandate includes developing projects in Africa to improve access to international registries, provide training for healthcare workers, and supply hospitals with organizational tools and care packages. She is expected to officially present her new role at the World Stroke Congress in Seoul, scheduled for October 21–23.
