Valeria Pandolfo death investigation to continue after judge rejects dismissal

A judge in Santa Maria Capua Vetere has rejected a prosecutor's request to archive the investigation into the death of Valeria Pandolfo. Pandolfo died on May 17, 2021, in Prata Sannita at the home of her then-partner, Marcus Pota.

The decision to continue the investigation follows identified “discrasie” (discrepancies) between the official forensic report and private expert findings. The judge has ordered further investigations to clarify the cause and timing of death, noting that the previous official findings regarding a probable cardiac cause remain unclear.

The court has also called for the acquisition of previous investigative files and new testimonies. These include accounts from witnesses regarding Pandolfo’s concerns about her relationship with Pota, which was reportedly characterized by physical and psychological violence.
