Valeriu Iftime reports 35 million euro loss in FC Botoșani investment
Romanian businessman Valeriu Iftime has revealed that his investments in the football club FC Botoșani have resulted in a net loss of approximately 35 million euros. Iftime noted that the amount lost is equivalent to the cost of constructing a pediatric hospital in Botoșani.
The financier detailed that the losses stem from roughly 16 million euros spent over the last four years, plus an additional 15 million euros invested leading up to the team's promotion to Liga 1. Despite previous successes, including qualifications for the Europa League, the club has struggled to compete for trophies and currently sits in 11th place in the Superliga.
Following a recent 1-3 home defeat against Petrolul, Iftime announced plans for significant structural changes. While coach Marius Croitoru remains in his position for the moment, the owner intends to hire an experienced sporting director with international expertise to implement a more scientific approach to the club's management.
