Valeura Energy and PTTEP approve Bussabong gas development
Valeura Energy and its partner, PTTEP Energy Development Company Limited, have reached a Final Investment Decision (FID) to proceed with the first phase of the Bussabong gas development in the Gulf of Thailand. The project, located in Block G3/65, marks Valeura’s first organic gas development within its Thailand portfolio.
The initial phase involves the installation of two wellhead platforms, each featuring 24 well slots, connected to existing processing infrastructure via a nine-kilometer subsea pipeline. The development plan includes drilling 25 wells, with first gas production targeted for late 2028. Sales gas production is expected to reach approximately 30 million cubic feet per day in 2029, increasing to 40 million cubic feet per day by 2030.
Valeura holds a 40% non-operated working interest in the field. The company estimates its share of capital expenditure for facilities, installation, and pipelines at approximately US$35 million over 2027 and 2028, with an additional US$20 million to US$25 million allocated for its share of drilling costs.
