Valganna inaugurates new cycling and pedestrian path at Lake Ghirla
The municipality of Valganna has inaugurated the first section of a new pedestrian and cycling path along Lake Ghirla. The project features an 800-meter stretch, including a spectacular elevated walkway that overlooks the water, connecting the Eden area to the Trattoria del Lago parking lot.
The infrastructure project cost approximately €1,365,000. Funding was provided through a collaboration between several entities: Regione Lombardia contributed €1,115,000, the Comunità Montana del Piambello provided €150,000, the Autorità di Bacino Lacuale Ceresio, Piano e Ghirla allocated €50,000, and the Municipality of Valganna added €50,000.
Mayor Bruna Jardini described the work as a significant achievement for the small municipality, noting that it enhances road safety while promoting sustainable mobility and local natural beauty. The inauguration was attended by various regional and provincial officials, including the President of the Province of Varese, Marco Magrini. This opening is part of a larger strategic plan to revitalize Lake Ghirla, with further developments expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
