Valinhos child discharged after sustaining 36% body burns in cooking accident

A three-year-old boy, Luan Gabriel, has been discharged from a specialized burn hospital in São Paulo after suffering burns to 36% of his body. The accident occurred in Valinhos when his father attempted to relight a cooking pot using alcohol, causing an explosion.

The child was injured when he embraced his father, who was engulfed in flames. Luan Gabriel was intubated for 12 days and underwent surgery to treat burns on his back. His father also sustained severe burns to both legs and is currently recovering at home, unable to return to his work as a tiler.
