Valjevo hosts 20th annual Pork Cracklings Festival
The 20th anniversary of the Festival duvan čvaraka (Pork Cracklings Festival) took place in Valjevo, attracting tens of thousands of visitors to the banks of the Kolubara river. The event featured a record 90 traditional cauldrons (oranije) used to prepare both 'šoder' and 'duvan' cracklings.
In addition to the culinary competition, the festival served as a significant economic and political event. Over 300 stalls offered food, seasonal preserves, handicrafts, and flowers. Prices for cracklings ranged from approximately 1,500 to 2,000 dinars per kilogram. The festival has grown into a major regional brand, drawing visitors from Europe, North America, and Canada.
Political figures, including Minister Siniša Mali and representatives from various political parties, used the gathering to address citizens with pre-election messages.
