Valjevo protests spark debate over police conduct and presence

Controversy has emerged regarding police conduct during a student protest in Valjevo. Critics argue that the police response constituted retaliation rather than a necessary intervention. It is alleged that while police remained passive during an initial attack on cordons, their subsequent use of force against individuals not offering resistance was unlawful and amounted to mistreatment.

Conflicting reports have also surfaced regarding the scale of the police presence. Srđan Milivojević, a leader of the Democratic Party, claimed to have observed approximately 30 police vehicles with officers in full gear. However, N1 reporters on the scene reported that they did not see members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in that specific area during the protest.
