Vall d'Uixó forest fire declared extinguished after 40 days
The major forest fire in Vall d'Uixó, Castellón, has been declared extinguished 39 to 40 days after its start on July 25. The blaze, which was reportedly intentional, destroyed over 9,000 hectares, including 12% of the Serra d'Espadà Natural Park. The fire caused the evacuation of approximately 15,000 people across 16 municipalities.
In a separate incident, a fire at the MOBEC industrial plant in the Los Palancares industrial estate in Cuenca has been brought under control. However, the facility's warehouse collapsed, leaving residual hot spots that emergency services expect will take several days to fully extinguish. Local authorities have advised residents to keep windows closed and suspend outdoor activities due to smoke drifting into the city.
