Vall d'Uixó Forest Fire Prompts Nationwide Emergency Response
A forest fire swept through the Vall d'Uixó area in the Valencian Community, forcing evacuations and mobilising a large emergency effort. The Spanish Government, the Generalitat Valenciana, the Diputación de Castelló and local municipalities coordinated to protect residents.
Firefighters from the Valencian Community and units from Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, Aragon, Castilla‑La Mancha, Murcia and Navarra assisted, alongside civil‑protective agencies, the military emergency unit, aerial pilots, CSIC scientists and local police, civil guard and health services. The town of Moncofa opened its sports centre to house evacuees, and local businesses, hospitals and volunteers provided additional support.
