Valladolid Council urges government to recover Los Álamos site
The Valladolid City Council has approved a motion from the Popular Municipal Group to urge the Spanish government, via the Duero Hydrographic Confederation (CHD), to facilitate the recovery of the former Los Álamos building.
The proposal aims to revitalize the site on the banks of the Pisuerga river by introducing new services compatible with the natural environment. Los Álamos has been a significant local landmark since the 1960s but has remained vacant since its closure in 2011. Despite multiple bidding processes in 2012, 2014, and 2018, no projects have successfully utilized the space.
The motion, defended by Urbanism and Housing Councilor José Ignacio Zarandona, does not directly approve construction works but calls for the advancement of initiatives to reclaim the emblematic space for the city.
