A-11 Autovía del Duero opens new sections in Valladolid

The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has inaugurated two new sections of the A-11 Autovía del Duero in the province of Valladolid. The project, which connects Tudela de Duero and Valbuena de Duero, has taken seven years to complete—double the originally projected timeframe—and has seen three different ministers oversee the works.

The opening is partial, requiring drivers to use local roads such as the VP-3302, VP-3001, and VA-101 to connect with the existing highway network. Minister Óscar Puente emphasized that the project is a critical safety measure intended to reduce accidents on the parallel N-122 national road, which is known for high fatality rates.

While the infrastructure aims to improve connectivity and safety between local towns and cities, the project has faced criticism regarding its delays and the political nature of the inauguration ceremony.
