Valladolid woman seeks biological family after 49 years

Noemí, a woman from Valladolid, is attempting to locate her biological parents and brother nearly 50 years after being placed in the Casa Cuna institution. The institution, which served as a home for minors under state guardianship in the 1970s, has since been converted into a civic center.

Her last memory of her early childhood is a separation from her brother, Manuel, at the gates of the facility. Following her time at Casa Cuna, she was placed with an adoptive family in the Canary Islands. Supported by Chicago-based investigator Iván Gastañaga, Noemí is working to piece together her history and find her biological relatives using limited records from the Valladolid area.
