Valle Brembana athletes win titles at Zogno festival and Malonno vertical championships

On 2 August 2026 the Atletica Valle Brembana organized the 29th Corrida di San Lorenzo and the 17th Highlander Run in Zogno, Lombardy. The women's 4 km race was won by 21‑year‑old Lucia Arnoldo, with Giovanna Epis and Martina Ghisalberti completing the podium. In the men’s race Francesco Ropellato (US Quercia) took first place, followed by Mustafà Belghiti and Alain Cavagna.

The day before, at the Italian Vertical Championships in Malonno, Francesco Bongi (GS Orobie) claimed the U23 title, while Gabriele Licini of Atletica Valle Brembana earned a silver medal in the junior category. The event featured more than 300 athletes tackling the steep “muro” finish, with US Malonno winning the men’s team title and La Recastello the women’s.

Both events highlighted the growing strength of athletes from the Valle Brembana region in national competitions.
