Valle d'Aosta officials promote autonomy at Florence summit

A delegation from the Valle d'Aosta region, led by President Renzo Testolin, participated in the Festival delle Regioni in Florence on October 26, 2026. The mission focused on strengthening regional autonomy and advancing the revision of the special Statute.

During the event, the delegation met with Raffaele Fitto of the European Commission and engaged in discussions regarding the reform of Title V. While the regional administration aims to leverage local peculiarities for national development, the opposition, including Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra Valle d’Aosta, has criticized the current legislative process as being in a state of stalemate.

Additionally, the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces held discussions regarding mountain area policies. Valle d'Aosta maintains a specific departmental delegation dedicated to mountain affairs to address challenges such as access to healthcare and education in remote territories.
