Valle d’Aosta unveils six new Stadler electric trains

Six new Stadler FLIRT electric trains were presented at the Torino Porta Nuova station to modernize the railway service for the Valle d’Aosta region. The project, representing an 86 million euro investment, was funded through PNRR, FSC, state, and regional resources.

The new rolling stock is designed to improve comfort and accessibility, featuring a low floor of 600 millimeters to assist passengers with reduced mobility. The trains are equipped with modern amenities including 220V, USB-B, and USB-C charging ports, as well as dedicated spaces for bicycles and ski equipment to support the region's tourism sector.

These trains will officially enter service once the electrification of the Ivrea-Aosta section is completed. The introduction of this fleet significantly reduces the average age of the Valle d’Aosta rail fleet to just two years and two months. Regional authorities and Trenitalia are also exploring new direct connections between Valle d’Aosta and Lombardy to better serve commuters and tourists.
