Valle de Juárez residents protest lack of public transport
Residents of Valle de Juárez have organized a protest for Sunday, October 25, at the Guadalupe-Tornillo Bridge to demand that the Chihuahua state government restore public transportation on the Juárez-Porvenir route. The mobilization follows the cessation of service linked to the company Star Soluciones.
The collective ‘Por el regreso del PORVE’ stated that the lack of transport has hindered residents' ability to attend work, school, medical appointments, and perform daily errands. The group cited Article 5 of the Chihuahua State Transportation Law, which mandates that the state executive branch is responsible for providing public transport services to benefit society.
While state officials, including Transportation Undersecretary Luis Manuel Aguirre Aguilera, have stated the issue is under review and they aim to restore service ‘as soon as possible,’ no definitive solution has been provided to the affected communities.
