Valle del Cauca launches earthquake recovery and credit plan
The Government of Valle del Cauca and the Colombian National Government have launched a financial and reconstruction package to mitigate the impact of the August 10 earthquake. The earthquake affected 15,645 business units across 42 municipalities, with local economic losses estimated at $313 billion pesos.
To support economic recovery, authorities announced credit lines featuring zero interest rates, flat IBR rates, and forgivable loans of up to $5 million pesos. These resources will be managed through Infivalle, Bancóldex, iNNpulsar, and the ValleINN program. An initial fund of $5.25 billion pesos will be mobilized by Infivalle and Fonder Valle in partnership with Bancóldex to assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
In terms of infrastructure, Roldanillo has been designated as the pilot municipality for reconstruction efforts. The program includes the demolition of unsafe structures and provides support for home improvements and self-construction. The government plans to provide building materials along with official construction masters and engineers to ensure structural integrity in the affected areas.
