Valle del Cauca urges early prenatal care for pregnant women

The government of Colombia's Valle del Cauca department has issued a renewed appeal to pregnant women and their families to begin prenatal check‑ups in the first weeks of pregnancy. Health officials stress that early visits allow the early detection of risk factors, help prevent complications, and provide essential services such as medical examinations, nutritional guidance, vaccinations and education on prenatal care. The campaign frames prenatal care as a right for all expectant mothers and a key measure to improve outcomes for both mothers and newborns. Authorities encourage women to seek health services as soon as pregnancy is confirmed and to maintain regular monitoring throughout gestation, emphasizing that timely care can significantly protect maternal and infant lives.
