Valle del Fortore to dedicate CAI trail to Gigi Mastrogiuseppe

A new hiking trail managed by the Club Alpino Italiano (CAI) will be dedicated to the memory of Gigi Mastrogiuseppe in the Valle del Fortore. Mastrogiuseppe was a veterinarian, mycologist, and researcher known for his studies on wildlife, specifically wolves and otters.

The trail will connect the territories of Pietracatella, Macchia Valfortore, and Sant’Elia a Pianisi. A commemorative event and walk are scheduled for Sunday, October 18, 2026, beginning with an institutional ceremony in Pietracatella. The initiative is supported by the CAI Campobasso Section, the CAI Molise Regional Group, the Order of Veterinarians of the Province of Campobasso, and the University of Naples.
