Valle Nevado ski resort suspends Argentine instructor after racist slur toward Brazilian influencer

On a Monday at the Valle Nevado ski centre near Santiago, Argentine ski instructor used a racist slur, calling Brazilian influencer Ana Carolina Cruz "macaco" (or "mono") and telling her to return to Brazil. Cruz posted video evidence on Instagram, describing the aggression and threats.

The resort responded by suspending the instructor indefinitely, issuing a public apology, and launching an internal investigation. Chile’s Subsecretaría de Turismo also released a statement condemning the act of xenophobia and reaffirming Chile as an open destination for visitors.

The incident sparked wider discussion on racism in tourism services, involving Chile, Brazil and Argentina.
