Valle Vitulanese communities unite for Saint Francis celebrations

Eight communities from the Valle Vitulanese gathered at the Basilica della Santissima Annunziata in Vitulano to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi. The event featured a symbolic procession where the patron saints of Campoli del Monte Taburno, Tocco Caudio, Cautano, Vitulano, Castelpoto, Torrecuso, Paupisi, and Foglianise were carried along three different paths to converge at a single destination.

During the Eucharistic celebration, themed ‘Laudato si’, mi’ Signore’, Fr. Antonio Tremigliozzi presided over the mass. Don Giovanni Rossi, the foraneo vicar, emphasized the spiritual value of popular piety and the unity of the valley, describing the pilgrimage as a ‘solemn and choral profession of faith, of communion and of hope.’

Other regional religious and social activities included the conclusion of Archbishop Paolo Giulietti’s pastoral visit to the Diocese of Lucca, a meeting of the Movimento Cristiano Lavoratori in Assisi regarding social economy, and the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Avis association in Coggiola.
