Vallenar livestock producers receive water tanks following rain damage

In Vallenar, Chile, ten livestock producers have received mobile 5,000-liter water tanks to combat supply shortages caused by recent heavy rains. The rainfall led to sedimentation and damage to wells used by families and animals in rural sectors such as Cachiyuyo, Pajonales, Hacienda Compañía, and La Cantera.

The initiative was implemented by INDAP through its Minor Irrigation Works Program (PROMR) as part of an agricultural emergency declared for the Huasco Province and Atacama region. INDAP has allocated $250 million for emergency irrigation works in Atacama, which includes providing water tanks, motor pumps, and resources to repair damaged irrigation canals.
