Vallenato al Parque festival celebrates musical heritage in Bogotá

The second edition of the Vallenato al Parque 2026 festival took place at Simón Bolívar Park in Bogotá, celebrating the traditional and contemporary sounds of the vallenato genre. The event featured a diverse lineup ranging from established legends such as Otto Serge and Jaime Espitaleta to emerging groups like VACAP and Kandymaku, facilitating a musical dialogue between different generations.

Alongside the musical performances, journalist and literary master Gustavo Caraballo presented his book, ‘Pedazo de acordeón y otros relatos vallenatos’. During the event, Caraballo highlighted vallenato as a fundamental pillar of Colombian identity and a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. He emphasized the genre's ability to preserve oral traditions and cultural customs, noting that despite its origins with the Viennese accordion, it has become a uniquely Colombian symbol recognized globally.
