Vallo di Diano implements tourism and hydraulic safety initiatives
The Vallo di Diano region in Italy is advancing two distinct strategic projects aimed at regional development and safety.
To boost cultural tourism, the Vallo di Diano Mountain Community, the MIdA Foundation, and the municipalities of Atena Lucana, Padula, Polla, and Sala Consilina have signed an agreement to promote the area's resources synergistically. As part of this long-term programming, the region will participate with a unified exhibition stand at the XXVIII Mediterranean Archaeological Tourism Fair (BMTA) in Paestum, scheduled for October 29 to November 1, 2026. The initiative aims to maximize visibility and optimize economic resources under the 'Visit Vallo di Diano' brand.
Simultaneously, the Vallo di Diano and Tanagro Reclamation Consortium has launched maintenance works on the Zia Francesca stream in Sassano to mitigate hydraulic risk. Following previous interventions at the Cappuccini basin, these new works involve clearing vegetation and cleaning the riverbed to ensure proper water flow and reduce flooding risks. The project is expected to improve local environmental conditions and the usability of nearby cycling paths, with ongoing efforts also targeting the strategic maintenance of the Tanagro River.
