Vallourec and ExxonMobil partner for subsea technology in Brazil

Vallourec and ExxonMobil have partnered to implement advanced subsea insulation technology at Vallourec’s facility in Serra, Espírito Santo. The project involves the commercial application of GDLX technology combined with Proxxima resin systems, designed to prevent oil freezing and pipe clogging in ultra-deepwater environments by maintaining stable temperatures.

The Serra plant will be the first industrial unit in the world qualified to perform these operations and the only one outside the United States to produce pipes using this patented ExxonMobil technology. The new production line is expected to begin operations in the first half of 2028, focusing on both domestic needs and international exports.

A supply contract has already been established with ExxonMobil to provide 90 kilometers of piping for operations in Guyana. The investment also includes workforce development initiatives, such as a partnership with SENAI to train local professionals in industrial machine maintenance.
