Valls rail services face potential cuts due to new airport line

The upcoming launch of the R-Aeroport line in Catalonia may disrupt existing regional rail services, specifically impacting the R-13 line that connects Lleida to Barcelona via Valls. Due to capacity constraints at the Passeig de Gràcia tunnel, which is approaching its limit with nearly twenty circulations per hour, officials are considering several alternatives.

One proposed option involves terminating the R-13 service at Sant Vicenç de Calders, which would force passengers to transfer to reach Barcelona. This would eliminate direct connections for Valls and other municipalities on the line. Both the Generalitat and Renfe are currently evaluating these infrastructure challenges and potential service adjustments.
