North Macedonia and Kosovo authorities launch major fraud and embezzlement investigations

In North Macedonia, two financial managers of the State Lottery are under house arrest and detention following allegations of embezzling 1.3 million euros. Prosecutors suspect the officials failed to deposit daily circulation from 2024 into the company's commercial bank accounts. During court proceedings, a witness testified that video lottery terminals (VLT) purchased for the company were never actually put into use and remain in storage.

In Kosovo, businessman Valon Lluka has been detained for 48 hours. He is suspected of fraud, misappropriation of foreign property, and entering into harmful contracts during his tenure as a director at Mabetex. The investigation involves allegations of using false reports to illicitly benefit from company payments.

Additionally, Kosovo Police have intensified investigations into a fraud case in Pristina. During a court-ordered search of a suspect's home, authorities seized several SIM cards believed to be used for illegal activities. The suspect was questioned and subsequently released, though the investigation remains ongoing.
