VALORANT Champions Shanghai 2026: Chinese teams struggle in opening matches

The VALORANT Champions 2026 tournament in Shanghai has seen a difficult start for the host region. All four Chinese teams—TYLOO, EDward Gaming, Xi Lai Gaming, and JD Gaming—lost their opening series with a 0-2 match score, failing to win a single map in the initial stages.

In recent group stage matches, 100 Thieves defeated T1 with a 2-0 scoreline. Meanwhile, FUT Esports secured a 2-0 victory over JD Gaming, winning both the Ascent and Summit maps.

The tournament features 16 top teams from the Americas, EMEA, Pacific, and CN leagues competing for a total prize pool of $2.25 million. The group stage is being held at the Jing’an Sports Center, with the finals scheduled to take place at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
