Valpaços to host Alto Tâmega e Barroso Bio-Region Forum

Valpaços will host the II Forum of the Alto Tâmega e Barroso Bio-Region on September 23. Organized by the Comunidade Intermunicipal do Alto Tâmega e Barroso (CIMAT), the event focuses on the challenges of organic production and the economic valuation of regional agricultural products.

Participants including producers, companies, and public officials will discuss organic farming mechanization, the recovery of abandoned lands, market access, and innovation. The forum follows Valpaços receiving the European Union Biological City distinction. Local authorities aim to use organic agriculture to increase farmer income, preserve the territory, and encourage rural settlement.
