Valparaíso, Chile and Resistencia, Argentina announce major international art biennials

The Municipality of Valparaíso opened a public call for its 13th International Arts Biennial, inviting artists from across Chile and foreign residents with an active RUT. Up to 100 visual‑arts works will be selected between 15 June and 23 August 2026, with exhibitions slated from September 2026 to February 2027 in three city venues. Mayor Camila Nieto and Biennial director Rocío Douglas highlighted the event’s aim to integrate art into public spaces and boost Valparaíso’s cultural profile.

In Resistencia, Argentina, organizers are finalising preparations for the Bienal Internacional de Escultura 2026, scheduled for 17‑26 July. Over 1,200 exhibitors, including sculptors, performers, and artisans, are expected, and the city is upgrading infrastructure to welcome visitors. The biennial will feature live sculpture creation, concerts, a congress, and a festival, adding 15‑20 new works to the city’s existing collection of public sculptures.
