Valparaíso hosts child welfare forum and ImaginaRURAL cultural summit in July

On July 10, the city of Valparaíso hosted a forum titled “La Niñez como Patrimonio de la Sociedad: Una tarea de Todos”. The discussion, moderated by journalist Matías del Río, featured Cardinal Fernando Chomalí, PUCV rector Nelson Vásquez, and neuropsychiatrist Amanda Céspedes. Participants addressed vulnerability, poverty and social responsibility, emphasizing collective care for children and families.

Two days earlier, on July 8‑9, Valparaíso’s Parque Cultural held the international ImaginaRURAL summit. Organized by Habitaciones Comunes with support from Chile’s Ministry of Cultures, the event brought speakers from Mexico, Spain, Colombia and Argentina to discuss biocultural sustainability, rural cultural policy and the launch of the book “ImaginaRURAL. Sostenibilidad biocultural para territorios rurales”. The summit aimed to foster dialogue between urban and rural know‑how and propose new models for sustainable territorial development.
