Valparaíso launches municipal road repairs and plaza renovations

The Municipality of Valparaíso has launched several urban improvement projects aimed at infrastructure repair and public space renovation.

A municipal road maintenance plan involving an investment of up to 1,000 million pesos has begun in Placilla de Peñuelas. The project targets 41 intervention points to repair asphalt, concrete, and cobblestone surfaces damaged by time and recent rainfall. Mayor Camila Nieto noted that approximately 30% of the total investment is specifically directed toward Placilla to address long-standing community demands for safer transit.

Additionally, the Municipal Council approved a 280.6 million peso project for the integral improvement of Plaza Vega in Cerro Barón. Funded by the Regional Government through the National Fund for Regional Development (FNDR), the renovation will include the installation of new lighting, accessibility ramps, sports areas, and playgrounds. The project is expected to be completed within 130 days and aims to recover the space as a safe community meeting point.
