Valparaíso Leads World With Fastest Fixed Broadband Speed

Valparaíso, Chile recorded an average fixed‑line download speed of 425.84 Mbps and an upload speed of 344.14 Mbps in the latest Ookla Speedtest Global Index, ranking it first worldwide for the second consecutive year. The city outpaced Abu Dhabi (399.92 Mbps) and Lyon, France (348.11 Mbps). Chile as a country placed second globally with a 393.43 Mbps download average, behind Singapore.

Mayor Camila Nieto said the result "shows we have the capacity to keep advancing connectivity" and emphasized that "connectivity should no longer be a luxury but a fundamental tool for development." Enrique Coulembier, chairman of Chile Telcos and CEO of Mundo Telecomunicaciones, called the achievement a recognition for Chile and evidence that regional areas can lead international technology indicators.
