Valparaíso Region Health Department Boosts Influenza Vaccination Outreach

The Municipality of Quillota in Chile’s Valparaíso region launched a territorial vaccination strategy that brings free flu shots directly to vulnerable residents. The plan includes home visits for people over 60, Saturday neighborhood clinics that relocate from the central plaza to outlying villas, and extended‑hours stations in the local mall. Residents can schedule home visits via a dedicated phone line or WhatsApp.

Parallel to Quillota’s effort, regional health authorities rolled out the 2026 Winter Campaign across the Valparaíso region, aiming to raise influenza‑vaccination coverage to protect high‑risk groups. As of the campaign’s start, 724,440 people (68.36% of the target) have been immunised, though coverage remains low among children aged 6 months‑5 years, pregnant women, and seniors over 60. The initiative promotes hand‑washing, mask use, ventilation, and encourages use of the expanded network of more than 180 vaccination points, with community outreach under the hashtag #TeamCuidarnos.
