Valparaíso Region prepares for diverse cultural performances
The Valparaíso Region is hosting several significant cultural performances in early September. On September 3, the Teatro Mauri SCD in Valparaíso will host ‘La cosa se puso caliente,’ an event featuring Cuban rumba and timba. The program includes DJ Mar, the collective Cerro Caliente, and Cosa Buena Orquesta, a prominent Chilean salsa group founded in 2012.
On September 4, the Teatro Municipal de Viña del Mar will host the premiere of ‘El Amor BrujA,’ a contemporary reimagining of Manuel de Falla’s work. Performed by Compañía Flamenco Triana and the Orquesta Marga Marga, the production blends flamenco, contemporary dance, and classical music. Created by choreographer Gabriel Aragú with musical arrangements by Sócrates Mastrodimos, the performance explores themes of memory and ritual through an indigenous lens.
