France: Two violent attacks reported in Valréas and Marseille
Two separate violent incidents have been reported in France. In Valréas, Vaucluse, a 52-year-old woman was found dead in her home with deep wounds to her throat and face. Her 32-year-old son, who is under judicial protection (curatelle), was arrested and has reportedly confessed to the murder. A knife believed to be the weapon was seized by authorities.
In Marseille, a 40-year-old man, who was subject to an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF), allegedly attacked his former partner with a blade in the presence of their five children. The victim was hospitalized in intensive care with serious injuries to her neck and throat, though her condition has since stabilized. The suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended at the Gare de Lyon in Paris while traveling from Marseille. An investigation into attempted murder has been opened.
