Valérie Maurice discusses departure from Télématin

Former Télématin weather presenter Valérie Maurice has detailed the reasons behind her departure from the France 2 program in December 2024. After more than forty years in television, the 62-year-old cited professional exhaustion and a desire for greater freedom as primary motivators for her exit.

Maurice explained that the rigorous schedule, which required waking up at 3:00 AM four days a week, had led to significant fatigue. She also noted that she had accumulated the equivalent of two years of unused vacation time. Beyond the physical toll, she expressed frustration with being restricted to news and weather segments, having previously requested opportunities to work in entertainment or fiction without success.

The decision to leave was catalyzed by the departure of her colleague, Thomas Sotto. Upon his exit, Maurice informed management of her intention to leave as well. She is currently enjoying a period of rest and a lifestyle free from strict professional constraints.
