Valtteri Bottas blames technical failure for Baku crash
Valtteri Bottas has attributed his last-lap crash during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix to a technical malfunction within his Cadillac. The Finnish driver reported that after an initial lock-up at Turn 1, the car's systems appeared to become “confused” due to the extra distance traveled.
Bottas described a sequence of anomalies, including a significant “super-clip” and a failure in the rear braking system. He noted that when attempting to brake for Turn 15, only the front brakes seemed functional, as if the rear was no longer harvesting energy. This led to the car hitting the barriers without contact from other drivers.
Cadillac has confirmed they will investigate the technical issue. Additionally, the FIA's decision not to deploy a Safety Car or Virtual Safety Car following the incident has become a point of discussion, as race control opted to use double-waved yellows instead.
