Valtteri Bottas' stolen Cadillac triggers FBI probe during Miami Grand Prix

Finnish Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas had his Cadillac Escalade taken from the driveway of the Airbnb he was staying at in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on the Saturday of the Miami Grand Prix weekend. The car, which still contained his paddock and VIP parking passes, was reported missing while Bottas was in the shower. Local police and the FBI opened an investigation, concerned the vehicle could be used to gain unauthorized access to the race circuit.

Alfa Romeo’s team supplied a replacement Escalade, allowing Bottas to reach the track with only a minor delay. The stolen car was recovered the next day in a high‑crime neighbourhood. Bottas finished 18th, last, in the race. He later said the thief "clearly wasn’t interested in F1" and seemed to have used the vehicle for another crime before abandoning it.
