Valve discontinues Valve Index VR headset

Valve has officially announced the discontinuation of its Valve Index VR headset. To clear remaining inventory, the company is offering a 20 percent discount on the headset and related accessories while supplies last.

The Valve Index headset is now priced at $399, down from its previous $499. However, components such as controllers and Lighthouse base stations must be purchased separately, with all items receiving the same 20 percent discount. A complete setup can cost approximately $700.

The discontinuation of the Index makes way for Valve’s upcoming Steam Frame. While the Index requires a PC connection, the Steam Frame is expected to utilize onboard Qualcomm processors for standalone operation. Valve has confirmed that existing Index owners will continue to receive support on Steam and SteamVR.
