Valve expands performance data for Steam Deck developers

Valve is expanding the performance data available to game developers to improve optimization for SteamOS and Steam Deck hardware. Through an updated partner dashboard, developers of ‘Steam Deck Verified’ titles can now access detailed framerate distribution charts.

Rather than relying solely on average framerates, which can be misleading, this new data shows the percentage of gameplay occurring at specific FPS levels. This allows developers to identify exactly how often a game falls below performance thresholds, such as 30 FPS, enabling more precise technical optimizations.

The data is collected anonymously from Steam Deck users who opt-in to share their performance statistics. While currently limited to Verified titles, the initiative aims to provide a clearer picture of the actual user experience across different hardware configurations.
