Valve releases SteamOS 0.4.3 beta for Steam Frame

Valve has released the SteamOS 0.4.3 beta for the Steam Frame, focusing primarily on improving energy efficiency and device stability. According to the company, the software optimizations can increase battery life by up to 12% during both local gameplay and wireless streaming sessions.

The update targets the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and the device's 21.6 Wh battery to improve power management. While Valve reports significant gains, actual results may vary depending on the specific content being viewed and the selected refresh rate, which supports up to 144 Hz.

In addition to power improvements, the beta introduces a new accessibility option for eye tracking, allowing users to select their dominant eye for tracking. The update also addresses technical issues, such as controller command errors in specific titles like Google Earth VR and Thumper, and improves connection stability for streaming to resolve 'Error 17'.
