Valve releases SteamOS 3.8.26 Beta with performance and handheld fixes

Valve has released the SteamOS 3.8.26 Beta, targeting performance improvements and expanded compatibility for various handheld devices. The update is currently available to users opted into the Beta and Preview channels via the system update settings.

A primary focus of this release is fixing a performance regression that caused degraded frame rates when composition was required, specifically when FSR was enabled. The update also addresses several hardware-specific issues, including WiFi connectivity regressions on the MSI Claw A1M, battery display errors on Lenovo Legion Go models, and system freezes related to SD card usage on the MSI Claw.

Additional fixes include resolving Firefox freezes in Desktop Mode, addressing Bluetooth instability with the Nintendo Switch Pro (v1) controller, and correcting a bug where Unreal Engine 5 VR games could display a blank right eye. The update is expected to roll out to the Stable channel once testing is complete.
